2010 Junior World Rowing Championships

Dear Rowing Friends,

As Chairman of the Czech Rowing Association Iam delighted to invite representatives of the International Rowing Federation and of the National Federations as well as young athletes and rowing enthusiasts to the 2010 World Rowing Junior Championships, to beheld at the Račice Rowing Course.

The Račice Rowing Course opened back in 1986 with the hosting of the World Junior Championships, and the Czech Rowing Association is honoured to be able to host this prestigious event again in 2010.

The Czech Rowing Association and the Račice Rowing Course look forward to building on

this venue’s excellent reputation for staging international events efficiently and to a very high standard.

The City of Prague intends to put itself forward as a candidate to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, and in the event of a successful bid the Olympic rowing and flat-water canoeing events would be held here at Račice.

This ambition is reflected in the quality of the course and the enthusiasm and professionalism of the organisers.

Račice Rowing Course, set in the beautiful central Bohemian countryside but just 30 minutes from Prague, provides ideal conditions and facilities for the best young rowers from around the world to perform at their peak and provide entertaining races for spectators. We wish them all the best and hope to see them back at Račice for future competitions or to make use of the excellent training opportunities.

Looking back over the results of previous World Rowing Junior Championships, we see the names of many athletes who later went onto to achieve Olympic and other senior championship successes.

For them, participation in the World Rowing Junior Championships was a stepping stone on the path to this success. For many others the Junior Championships represented the pinnacle of their rowing achievements. That is what makes this event so special for all the participants and lovers of the sport of rowing.

We are confident that the 2010 World Rowing Junior Championships will be an exceptional event for all who attend and compete. We look forward to welcoming you to Račice
